Villa del Sol is on the Monte de los Almendros, a popular but quiet hillside overlooking Salobrena. The main shops and restaurants of the town, and the beach, are just 4-6km away and good roads link Salobrena with Granada, Almeria, the port of Motril and the villages of the Alpujarra, as well as numerous local attractions. This stretch of coast has a micro climate and normally receives more hours of sunshine than the Costa del Sol, making it ideal for winter holidays, particularly as the ski resort of the Sierra Nevada is only one and a half hours drive away. Other year round activities to be enjoyed in the area include golf, scuba diving, water sports, horse riding and walking.
